A Praise of His Glory

I wrote this in light of feeling weighed by the political unrest throughout our world, the wars and bombings that never seem to end, the recent heartbreaking school shooting in Tennessee, the pains I hear my friends express in their personal lives and through taking a deeper look at my own failings and shortcomings a lot this past month and my own troubles and pain. I hope that reading this prayer of praise can be a comfort to you as well. 

Father God,
You are incredible in that even when there is pain, conflict, deceit, death and wounding
You NEVER leave us

You are steady and consistent

You balance compassion and conviction 

Without being walked over, without gaslighting or blame-shifting

You hold justice and mercy equally

Without condemnation or shame

You share truth in the midst of the darkness

Without letting Your emotions taint Your words

You pour out Your love unto others without ulterior motives

You pour out Your joy 

Your joy that never runs out

An unexplainable joy

It remains even in the midst of our deepest grief

It remains in the midst of our deepest pains and traumas

It remains when we look around and all we see is the brokenness all around us

Wars, restlessness, dictatorships, manipulation, slavery and oppression

You don't lose Yourself in Your empathy

You stay true to who You are

You can understand our emotions and empathize with us 

More than we give You credit for

We will always fail as humans, because we are not You

Yet in our failings and missteps,

in our sadness, our inconsistencies,

our pride, our misunderstandings,

our inability to truly love others selflessly,

May we praise YOU for all that You are all the more
