Day 12: Learning to be Joyful

Have you ever had a bad day? I'm sure most of us have had days where it just seemed like everything that could go wrong did go wrong. These are the kinds of days where being joyful does not come easy. Maybe you just had one of those days today. Maybe you just had one of those days where you overslept, spilled coffee on your shirt while driving to work, got the deadline on an assignment that was due today wrong or got a rejection letter in the mail from an employer or college.

While it is normal to be upset about some things, one should not let things that bring a down, steal their joy. You can still have joy on the days where you are exhausted, overwhelmed and recieve bad news, You can still have joy because you can remember that joy is found in Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 states, "Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this God's will for you in Christ Jesus"

This command is something that in our flesh, we cannot follow. Yet Christ in us can help us to follow it. So take heart, because even though today may have been a bad day, remember that you always have hope in Jesus. Let your joy be found in him. Whether the suffering is big or small, you can still remember the joy found in Jesus.
