Glass Garden
As I entered the garden one afternoon
I caught a glimpse of my reflection from the mirrored wall
Then I turned away
For I could not even bear to see what the glass reflected back at me
I continued walking through
Getting lost among the various bottles and shards of glass
Lining each wall
A green bottle caught my eye
So I walked over to it
"Jealousy" the words on the bottle jumped out at me
My cheeks began to feel hot
So I quickly turned my head
Continuing to walk through the garden filled with glass
There were bottles up above my head
As I looked down at my feet
I saw various colors of broken pottery
As I made a left, a gold watch faced me
"Pride" curved around the band of the watch
I shook my head denying what I just read and continued walking
I started to make a right
Only to be stopped by a jagged, broken up glass fence
I was about to turn around but instead took a step back
I saw that it was not a fence but instead were words
Cut jagged, blocking my way from turning down the next path
My heart dropped down to my stomach as I read what the fence said
"Fear" blocked my way from turning down the next path
I looked up hoping to see the sky
Instead of bright blue and swirls of white
There above my head, in dark red glass, were the words "insecurity"
I'll be trapped in this garden forever
I thought as I turned around only to be faced with another wall of glass
I turned back to the words I saw earlier
Instead of turning away
I nodded in agreement
Felt a tear trickle down my cheek
As I worked my way backwards
Agreeing as I read each word
The glass walls in the garden began to crack
Rays of sunlight streamed through the glass
I walked forward towards the cracked parts
Peered through one of the cracks
Saw a wildflower from the field and small glimpse of the river down the hill
As I let myself see the words on each wall of glass
Not turning away or shaking my head with denial
More and more sunbeams began to streak through
Each piece of glass off the wall became cracked into two
The smell of the fresh flowers came stronger as the walls split through
Shattering the glass
Then slowly but surely
All the walls cracked into pieces
The glass garden was destroyed
I looked up and there instead of glass,
Was a bright blue sky
