Finding Joy In The Confusion
Heads up-I might be a little bit all over the place but this is something that I have been thinking about lately
Maybe sometimes wanting what God wants for you won’t always be what you may want at the moment but overtime by Him working at your heart, you’ll see that it is something that you want too.
I've been realizing a lot lately that there may be times when I may want something to work out and it can even be something that is even glorifying to Him and I may even have prayed about it and approached it with the right heart, but for reasons I won't yet understand or may never, it won't work out. Because sometimes when God's plans aren't our plans we don't approach what He has for us immediately with joy, sometimes it takes trusting in Him and who He is.
Those moments are the hardest. You think-but this is glorifying to Him? why did this fall through or why isn't this working out?
To be honest, I don't really know how to answer those questions. All I know is in those times when He allows things to switch directions that all we can do is pray that He works at our hearts to see things the way He does and just dwell on Him and who He is.
Have you ever just sat for a moment and just thought okay so here are things I desire but what if they don't work out for whatever reason and then let your mind go? So let's say I don't get that job or I don't end up where I want to here, or here's a tough one, I don't get married at the age I want to.
Just ask yourself those questions-Am I willing to accept that? Most of us probably will say no I would be devastated. I can honestly say I would be upset and crushed and it would be really hard but I know that as long as I am striving towards God and letting Him work at my heart, in the end I would be okay, because I would have joy and peace knowing that I am where He wants me for the moment.
Psalm 37:4 was one of my favorite verses growing up. It states, "delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart"
The thing that I am getting more now that I didn't get when I was younger was that this doesn't mean as long as I cling to God and serve Him, He will give me everything I ever wanted(by our world's standards). What this means instead is that as I delight in the Lord He becomes my desire and He will fulfill that desire and give me more of Him. And it's really neat because by His working I can find that when I do focus on Him and not on my circumstances or the things that I want so bad-that I am okay and I am at peace with where I'm at.
I think that's how we can find joy in anything and joy in the moments where we don't understand-by focusing on Him and coming before Him being honest with how we're feeling but asking if we could see things the way He does and then He does it-He helps us see it as He does and it's really neat because I know if even for a second I start to focus on what happened or what others have that I don't-the peace instantly disappears but if I spend time focusing on Him and drawing to Him-the peace stays and I am filled with even more joy
There's a song that I've loved listening to alot lately. I'd really encourage you to check it out on youtube and be reminded of the God we serve, what He's done and how in the long run it's what we do for Him and what we give Him that really matters not the things we don't have.
Here's the lyrics
Unchanging God by Elevation Worship
Faithful in the waiting You are
Always faithful in the valley You are
Faithful in the midst of hurt and pain
You are faithful
Your promises remain
Forever and ever
You won't fade away
You never, You never change
You're unchanging God
You will never change
You're unchanging God
Mighty in the battle You are
Always with me, You're the God who overcomes
Mighty You will raise me from the grave
You are mighty
Your promises remain
Forever and ever
You won't fade away
You never, You never change
You're unchanging God
You will never change
You're unchanging God
Oceans will rise,
Kingdoms will fall
But the word of the Lord stands forever
The sun will start to fade,
The world will pass away
But the word of the Lord stands forever
And the death will try to come
The perfect love is won
Cause the word of the Lord stands forever
The word of the Lord stands forever
Forever
Your promises remain
Forever and ever
You won't fade away
You never, You never change
You're unchanging God
You will never change
You're unchanging God
You will never change
You're unchanging God
Your kingdom is forever
Your love will last forever
All glory, all honor
Unto our God forever
