Be Alert
"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." -1 Peter 5:8-10
A friend of mine told me over the summer that Satan likes to attack us when we're in HALT (Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired). When we are feeling low, tired or upset about something that is when the enemy loves to strike but we can resist giving him victory.
I was reminded once again that we aren't meant to do this on our own. When we call to God to help us fight off the lies that Satan lets seep into our brains, He will come through and be our strength. We don't have the strength on our own to fight off Satan but with God it is possible.
You are not alone. There is a God who is with you and will help you fight the temptations and down feelings that the Devil will throw at you. Don't ever forget that. He is really with You.
I was reminded of that this week as I began to pick up some of Satan's lies that I thought I had put down awhile ago. At first, I was like great....it's the two step forwards-one step back thing all over again, but then I realized, no Satan might be good at getting me to believe his lies, but that's just it they are LIES. They are hard to put down but everytime you find yourself begin to pick up a lie or go back to a struggle, turn to God and ask Him to be your strength and guidance because as long as you're on this earth, on your own you are going to wrestle to pick it up, but there is hope. He will help you daily put down the lies and He will help you find peace and joy and rest in Him once again. But you do have to make the effort and seek Him daily and let His truths seep into not only your brain but your heart as well.
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."-Psalm 46:10-11
