Don't Take Your Sunday Mornings For Granted
This morning was the same as any other Sunday. Get ready, go to church, sing worship songs, listen to the sermon, fellowship a little bit and leave. I knew I could go to church and that nothing terrible could happen to me. But in some countries, this is not the case.
Imagine, you are getting ready to go to church, you wonder if anyone will find you. You wonder if you will even make it back home. You wonder if everyone in your family will return home that night. This is underground churches. A group of people who meet together to pray and worship God, at the cost of their very own lives. Could you imagine the terror you would feel as you leave your home that day? Can you imagine what it would feel like to be aware that you could possibly get arrested or killed once you get to church?
It was just hitting me earlier tonight, how much I can take for granted the fact that I can go to church, without being in any serious danger. Sometimes we just go through this routine of church on a Sunday morning. Sometimes we even complain and don’t want to attend church. We’re too tired, the sermon’s boring, or we don’t like the worship. It was all just hitting me, when was the last time I thanked God that I could attend church and worship Him somewhere and still keep my life? When was the last time I prayed for the persecuted churches? The fact that we can go to church without risking our lives, should be something that we should not forget to be grateful for.
